CLARITY: According to the Strathearn Historical Society, a group of investors originally named the City of Simi Valley, Simiopolis! But, after a year or so, nobody liked it anymore and they decided to just go with Simi Valley.
There is landmark in the city few people know about. It’s called Strathearn, the birthplace of Simi Valley! On the West side of town, this is now the location of the Strathearn Historical Society and Museum
Strathearn is where you will find the oldest structure still standing in the area, The Simi Adobe. Some believe the Simi Adobe is one of the oldest buildings in California.
In 1875, the Simi Adobe was the center of a more than 114-thousand-acre ranch granted to a Spanish solider, named Santiago Pico.
Also, did you know Simi Valley was once headquarters to a bunch of cults and strange religions? For years our town was commonly referred to as ‘The Colony’.
There are so many interesting things you can learn at the Strathearn Museum.
