CLARITY (@SOONINSIMI: Iann Mena) – A post to the Nextdoor app reads, “We’ve asked, and we received! Dunkin’ taking over old Chase bank building in the Golds Gym Shopping Plaza. Can’t wait! Unknown as of now if there will be a drive thru window.”
A post on the Illi Commercial Properties website suggests the rumor could be true. The location will be the old Chase Bank location (1377 E Los Angeles Ave) at Simi Valley Plaza, home of Gold’s Gym and Vallarta Supermarket.
Talk of a Dunkin’ Donuts opening in Simi Valley has been circulated on Facebook and the Nextdoor app for years.
In June 2014, a press release from The Tasty Group LLC, announced plans to open a Simi Valley location as the first of eight doughnut stores promised to Ventura County.
At that time, it was reported, “Dunkin’ Donuts had an operator with rights to the Ventura County area and said, Simi Valley appealed to their growth plans.”
A spokesperson for the restaurant chain said, the Simi location will offer a wide range of coffees, espresso drinks, sandwiches and baked goods.
In 2016, the Acorn Newspaper seemed to confirm Dunkin’s arrival. They wrote, “The Massachusetts-based doughnut chain is constructing a store in the Simi Marketplace shopping center on the southeast corner of Erringer Road and Los Angeles Avenue.”
However, after nearly six years, those delicious, buttery, fat-filled rings of goodness still had not materialized in Simi Valley.
The community is home to thousands of Dunkin’ Donut fanatics who would love to have the restaurant in town.
For now, until the rumors are confirmed, Simi residents in need of their Dunkin’ fix, will have to make that 40 minute round-trip journey to the Westlake Village Dunkin Donuts location.
