(CLAIR) – Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark keep their adorable Flemish Giants cool with frozen water bottles, misters and refreshing fruit treats.
The giant rabbits can be especially fragile in the heat, so farm caretakers make sure these massive bunnies stay hydrated and comfortable all summer long.
Flemish bunnies are big rabbits. They are the largest breed of domestic rabbit. Most fully grown Flemish rabbits weigh around 14 pounds, but there are records of rabbits weighing as much as 21 pounds. Because they are so big, they can overheat easily. The Underwood’s take care to keep them extra comfortable when it is warm.
Workers say that the rabbits love their frozen water bottles, and they seem to really enjoy being sprayed with the misters.
Ventura County residents enjoy visiting the farm, and to keep visitors coming back, it’s important these gentle giants stay happy and healthy. The Underwood Family Farm is doing a great job, caring for and protecting these beautiful animals.
