(CLAIR) – It’s so easy to forget sometimes that our dogs are not actually people. These days society treats our pets with more love and care than ever before. In return, Fido rewards us with cuteness, cuddles and loyalty, giving the illusion that he can do no wrong, but that simply isn’t the case.
Dogs are animals, and no matter how well trained they may be, there’s always the potential for them to behave in ways that are unpredictable or even dangerous. That’s why it’s important to obey city laws and keep our dog on a leash at all times while on park district property. The only exception is when your dog is visiting one of the Simi’s dog parks.
Although my dog may be super smart and a perfect little angel most of the time, even the best behaved dogs have their bad days. They may jump up on people, chase rodents into a parking lot or get into a fight with another animal, which can be dangerous to both the dog and the humans involved.
It is in everyone’s best interest to obey city leash laws, to keep ourselves, our dogs and the public safe and free from the bad experiences that may occur when a dog is loose.
We want to make sure everyone can safely enjoy Simi parks along with our favorite four-legged family members.
