(D.JORDAN) – Simi’s fireworks show was incredible, over-the-top, and lasted for a long time. However, there was one obvious thing missing from this year’s pyro spectacular: The Happy Face!
Happy Face Hill is, perhaps, the most visible cultural icon in Simi Valley. It is seen by thousands of westbound drivers on the 118 freeway every day! Happy Face Hill has brought smiles to travelers along the this road for decades. In fact, there was a city-wide festival celebrating the famous landmark just over a month ago.
So where was the happy face during this year’s fireworks show? It’s hard to say. Perhaps it was just an oversight. On the other hand, maybe the organizers wanted to keep the display elements simple.
On social media, a resident, going by the name of @BearSaysBueno, commented, “I didn’t want to believe it, but the home of Happy Face Hill didn’t have a single happy face firework this year.”
Representing the people and spirit of the town, a big smiling Happy Face is a the perfect symbol for Simi Valley. Let’s hope, perhaps next year, we’ll see our giant glittery friend featured in our city’s Independence Day celebration.
The people of Simi would love it!
