(CLAIR) – With economic uncertainty affecting so many people in Simi Valley, remembering where to find a great food bargain might be a good thing to know right now.
Costco is recognized for their really low prices on bulk items. But one of the most popular deals in the warehouse doesn’t come in sizes too big to fit in your car.
We are talking about Costco’s famous $1.50 hot dog and soda combo.
The same deal at Weinerschnitzel costs $5.50 and around $8.00 at Cupids.
Since 1984, the price of a hot dog and soda has surprisingly remained the same while increasing in size, from a quarter-pound hot dog to one that’s 10% larger – And from a 12-oz can to a 20-oz fountain drink with free refills!
Company legend says Costco’s co-founder’s once threatened to kill the CEO if he ever raised the price of the hot dog.
Today Costco sells more hotdogs than all major league ball parks combined. More than 100 million hot dogs are sold by Costco each year.
At Costco, a family of four can get dinner for about 6 bucks!
On TikTok a person writes, “Not only is the Costco hotdog $1.50, but they are a foot long too. Worth every cent.”
Another person noted, “Let’s not forget, Costco has better pizza than half of New York City, and I’ll fight for that statement.”
With 482 locations selling pizza, Costco is effectively the 14th largest pizza chain in the country.
And at $1.99 a slice, they certainly have one of the best pizza bargains in town.
For a family looking to save money eating out, Costco could be an excellent food bargain to keep in mind.
