(CLAIR) – The holiday season is a time of giving and the Simi Valley Samaritan Center’s recent raffle is a testament to that. The raffle, which raised nearly $10,000 for programs to help those in need, was a heartwarming success. The raffle prize was a gently-used 2012 Mini Cooper automobile, which had been generously donated to the center.
About one hundred tickets were sold at $100 each, giving ticket holders an excellent chance to win this fantastic prize. The raffle also provides an opportunity to give back to the community, allowing the center to continue making a difference in the lives of those in need.
The ticket sales period ended on December 14th and the winning ticket was announced on December 15th by Simi’s newly elected mayor, Fred Thomas. Mayor-Elect Thomas was among the community members who came together to support the center and its efforts to assist those experiencing housing and food insecurities.
“We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Simi Valley Samaritan Center Holiday raffle is ticket number 88,” said Thomas. “This lucky number belongs to Connie Hixton, a resident of Simi Valley.”
Connie was thrilled to receive the news. “I never win anything. I can’t believe I won a Mini Cooper!” she exclaimed. “But honestly, just knowing that my contribution is going towards helping those in need makes me feel like a winner already. I’m so grateful to the Samaritan Center for all the work they do in our community.”
The Samaritan Center is thankful for Connie’s support and for the support of all those who participated in the raffle. The generosity of people like Connie is making a positive impact on the lives of those in need in the Simi Valley.
As the holiday season comes to a close, we are reminded of the power of giving and the difference kindness and giving can make in our community.
