(CLAIR) – The Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise is making a massive positive impact in the community! This week, the monthly board meeting was held at the Varenita Senior Homes. President Laura gave the group an overview of the numerous service projects the club has completed in the last 6 months. From the Youth Empowerment Summit, the Simi Seniors Thanksgiving Dinner and the Bicycle Give-A-Way, the club has been busy making a difference in the lives of people living in the Simi Valley area.
As 2023 gets underway, the club’s efforts are far from over as they have another six months to complete even more projects. Next week, they will be placing the Simi Smiles rocks at Corriganville Park on January 21st at 10:00 AM. This event is sure to bring smiles to the faces of those who see them. They will also be heading up a Multi-Club clean up effort at the Corriganville Park in the picnic area. The goal is to paint and rehab the benches to make the park even more inviting to visitors.
In addition to the physical projects, the club is also making a difference in the lives of those in need through programs such as the Gift Card program, which helps Simi Valley school kids and their families in need. The club is also participating in the homeless census count on January 24th to help obtain a snapshot of the people experiencing homelessness in Ventura County and gain access to state and federal funding.
The Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise is also hosting a ‘Clays for K9’s’ trap shooting competition on April 9th at the Oak Tree Gun Club. Proceeds from the event will go to support the Simi Valley Police K9 Unit.
The Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise is truly living up to its motto of ‘Service Above Self’. Anyone interested in learning more about the club is welcome to attend one of their weekly meetings to see one of Simi’s hidden gems in action.
