(CLAIR) – Women who are financially responsible for their families and attending school at the same time are true examples of determination and strength. Many of them face unimaginable obstacles and challenges every day, but they know that education is the key to their freedom and success. These women are a testament to the power of hard work, resilience, and the importance of education.
On February 23rd, Soroptimist International of Simi Valley will be honoring these remarkable women at The Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks. The organization will be giving out a number of scholarships during the event.
“This is a great opportunity to show support for these women and their efforts to better themselves and their families through education,” said Amy Corneau, a Past President of the local Simi Valley Soroptimist organization.
According to the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, of the 3.8 million students who are raising children while in college, roughly 2.7 million (70%) are mothers.
Also, the majority of women who are financially responsible for their families largely tend to be single mothers. Many of these women are disproportionately affected by poverty and economic insecurity. However, despite the financial challenges they face, including the need to work while going to school and limited access to financial aid, many of them are able to overcome the obstacles and achieve their educational goals. They understand the importance of education in improving their economic situation and providing better opportunities for their families.
Simi Soroptimists believe women who are financially responsible for their families and attending school at the same time are an inspiration to us all. They are a reminder of the power of determination and hard work. Their drive is contagious, and they serve as great role models for the community and for others in similar situations.
Soroptimist International of Simi Valley is dedicated to supporting these women and making sure they receive the help they need to succeed. Don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of these remarkable women and recognize their continued success by attending the event on February 23rd.
The event location is Los Robles Greens Golf Course, 299 S. Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks. To RSVP, visit www.soroptimistsv.org.
