(CLAIR) – A hidden gem in the pickleball world has been uncovered in the heart of our city. For those who have lived in Simi Valley for more than 15 minutes you know, our community loves its pickleball. From the local all-stars that play every day at Duck Park, to the casual players and up-and-comers that meet once a week at Lemon Park, our pickleball tradition is taken very seriously.
This is the sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis and has been gaining popularity in communities across the United States. Pickleball is a relatively easy sport to learn and can be played by people of all ages and skill levels. Additionally, it is a low-impact sport, making it less likely to cause injuries than some other activities. The game also requires minimal equipment, making it an affordable option for many people.
Simi Valley is home to countless dedicated pickleball courts, but for those who are new to the game or just looking for some casual exercise, the town’s best-kept pickleball secret has finally been revealed.
There are rarely used, secret courts located at Valley View Middle School. And most afternoons, they are wide open, with hardly a soul in sight.
The reason why the serious players don’t use them is due to the bright Simi Valley sunsets. These courts are oriented east to west, which may cause problems in the evening. Also, some of the courts have a few cracks and uneven pavement. But, if you don’t care about these issues and just want to try the game without anyone watching too closely, Valley View Middle School is the perfect pickleball playground for you to get some practice.
So, if you’re not quite a pickleball pro or just committed to forever being a pickleball newbie, you don’t have to be intimidated by the big personalities and fierce competition at some of the city’s most popular courts. Simply head over to Valley View Middle School and discover a secret pickleball paradise right in the middle of town.
