(CLAIR) – Scientists have long been puzzled by the green coloration of comets’ heads, and why we never see the color in their tails. And finally, a recent study led by the University of New South Wales and published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) astronomers have finally uncovered the reason for this phenomenon.
Moorpark College and the Ventura County Astronomical Society will be hosting a special event on Friday, January 20th, at 7:30 PM in the AA building Room # 147, titled “COMET OBSERVING: THEN and NOW! A Star Gazers Event.” Charles S. Morris of the Dreamweaver Observatory will be the guest speaker, sharing images of spectacular comets and discussing what to watch for in the skies this year.
The event is free and open to students, staff, and members of the community. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP to [email protected] in order to reserve their spot. The event will be held in the upper-campus quad of Moorpark College and will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about the fascinating world of comets and get a better understanding of what to look for in the night sky.
The event is a great opportunity for those who are interested in astronomy and stargazing to learn from an expert in the field and gain a deeper appreciation for the beauty of the night sky. The Ventura County Astronomical Society is dedicated to promoting interest in astronomy and educating the public about the wonders of the universe.
Don’t miss this chance to join the Moorpark College and Ventura County Astronomical Society for an evening of comet observing and stargazing. RSVP today to reserve your spot and learn more about the awe-inspiring world of comets.
