(CLAIR) – Regal Cinemas in Simi Valley is set to remain open despite the company’s recent announcement of 39 theater closures across the United States. The closures, which are a result of the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings and rising post-pandemic costs such as increased rent, are set to begin next month.
In a statement, Regal Cinemas confirmed that the Simi Valley location will not be affected by the closures and will continue to operate as normal. The company expressed its commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable movie-going experience for the local community.
The closure of 39 theaters, including the iconic Sherman Oaks Galleria location in Los Angeles County, will affect seven multiplexes in California and six in New York. This is in addition to the 12 locations that were already closed this past fall following the bankruptcy announcement from Cineworld, Regal’s parent company.
Despite the closures, Regal Cinemas will still operate in cinemas at L.A. Live in downtown, North Hollywood, Simi Valley and Palos Verdes, among others. At the time of bankruptcy, Regal operated approximately 500 cinemas nationwide. The company will begin rejecting leases for the closing locations on February 15th.
The community of Simi Valley can still enjoy the latest blockbuster movies at the local Regal Cinemas location. Further, the company continues to remind the public that Covid safety protocols and measures are still in place to ensure the safety and of customers and staff.
