(CLAIR) – Hold up! Chick-fil-A is replacing its famous chicken with… cauliflower? Say it ain’t so!
Starting Monday, February 13th, Chick-fil-A will be testing a new plant-based sandwich in Denver, Charleston, and Greensboro. At this stage, Simi Valley residents need not worry, as we will not be participating in the test. However, depending on the success of the trial, that could change.
The Chick-fil-A Cauliflower Sandwich is made with a tender filet cut from a whole, real cauliflower that is marinated and breaded in the original Chick-fil-A signature seasoning, pressure-cooked, and served with two dill pickle chips between a toasted bun. It’s supposed to be inspired by the flavors of the original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, but we’ll see about that.
“Our new sandwich is made with the highest quality ingredients,” said Leslie Neslage, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A.
The Chick-fil-A Cauliflower Sandwich was created, developed, and tested in-house by Chick-fil-A chefs over the course of four years. The team explored every corner of the plant-based space to find the perfect centerpiece for this new entrée and finally settled on cauliflower as the base of the sandwich.
So, will this new sandwich live up to the standards set by Chick-fil-A’s original chicken sandwich? Will a chicken-loving public respond to, ‘Eat More Veggies’? Only time will tell.
I’m a skeptic, but I’m also a fan of adventure, so, like many others, I will probably give this new sandwich a try.
