(CLAIR) – The ability to read plays a crucial role in a child’s development. It is not only essential for academic success but also for personal growth and understanding the world around us.
The Reading by 9 event is an opportunity to support youth and family literacy in Simi Valley.
The Simi Sunset Rotary Club has been providing the Reading by 9 event for many years, working with local schools to provide much-needed books and sitting with students to read with them. This event is a great example of how Simi residents give-back to their community. It provides an opportunity for good people to come together and support one another.
The Reading by 9 program seeks to promote youth and family literacy. It recognizes the important role that parents, guardians, and educators play in our children’s success in literacy and learning.
“As we move forward with teaching and learning, whether in math, science, or art, we know that literacy provides the foundation for all of these subjects,” said Mark Lowry, the club’s Public Relations Chair.
The Reading by 9 event is taking place on March 2, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Parkview Elementary, located at 1500 Alexander Street in Simi Valley. If you are interested in being a part of this event, please reach out to the Sunset Rotary Club’s community services director, Paula Miller.
