(CLAIR) – Simi Valley is a community that takes great pride in honoring and recognizing the brave men and women who serve our country. One way that the city does this is through its Armed Forces Banner Program, which was initiated to celebrate and acknowledge Simi Valley’s military personnel.
The program is simple yet powerful: banners are placed on street light poles throughout the city to honor and recognize military personnel who are current or past residents of Simi Valley. The banners are visible to everyone who passes by, serving as a reminder of the dedication, sacrifice, and bravery of our military personnel.
To be eligible for the program, honorees must meet one of the following requirements: they must be active duty military personnel in any branch of the United States Armed Forces, including active Reserves and active National Guard; or they must be a fallen service member in any United States conflict; or they must be inactive duty military personnel who served in any branch of the United States Armed Forces from September 2001 to deactivation.
Applications for the program are accepted on a continuous basis and banners are installed twice a year. The banners are displayed as noted in the banner application, which means that you can choose the location that best represents your loved one’s service and sacrifice.
If you are interested in learning more about the Armed Forces Banner Program, you can contact the Department at (805) 583-6786 or email [email protected]. Donations to the program are always appreciated.
Simi Valley is proud to honor and recognize its military personnel, and the Armed Forces Banner Program is just one way that the city shows its support and gratitude. So if you know someone who has served or is currently serving our country, consider applying for a banner to celebrate their service and sacrifice. It’s a small gesture that can have a big impact on the community and the people who call it home.
