(CLAIR) – Simi Valley’s long-serving City Manager, Brian Gabler, is retiring on June 30, closing a notable 38-year chapter in the city’s history. Gabler, 63, who has been a key figure in overseeing the city’s growth, made his retirement plans known during a recent City Council meeting.
Gabler’s journey in public service, inspired by family discussions during his childhood, led him to a fulfilling career. He earned degrees in political science and public administration, and joined Simi Valley’s administration in 1986. Over the years, Gabler rose through various roles, eventually becoming city manager in 2020.
Under his leadership, Simi Valley saw significant developments, including the Cultural Arts Center and the Town Center. Assistant City Manager Samantha Argabrite praised Gabler for his knowledgeable and steady leadership, especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic.
As Gabler prepares for retirement, he looks forward to spending more time with his family and traveling across America with his wife in their RV. His departure marks a time of transition for Simi Valley, as the city council begins the search for a new city manager to fill his significant role. Gabler’s commitment to the city sets a high standard for his successor and leaves a lasting legacy in the community.
