(CLAIR – Simi Valley, CA) – Simi folks love to celebrate their Independence Day, and this year is no exception. But did you know that one of our very own, Council Member Elaine P. Litster, shares her birthday with the nation? Yes, Elaine celebrates her special day on July 4th, along with several other famous names you might recognize.
Independence Day in Simi is packed with a variety of fun activities for our patriotic families to enjoy. From concerts and picnic lunches to family pool parties and firework shows, there’s something for everyone.
But this year, we can’t help but think the festivities feel even more special to Elaine because, after all, it’s the Fourth of July!
Elaine currently serves Simi Valley’s District 3 and was elected in 2020. Her involvement in the community includes chairing the Ventura County Council of Governments and the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Commission. She plays a vital role on the Simi Valley Council on Aging and the Youth Council. Her dedication to public service is evident in the long list of community boards and committees on which she serves.
What many in town might not know is that Elaine is also a professional harpist. She’s been invited to perform all over the United States, including at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. For 24 years, she has directed the Los Angeles Harp Extravaganza, one of the largest gatherings of harpists in Southern California. Her music adds a touch of elegance to her already impressive resume.
As for birthdays, Elaine isn’t the only notable person born on the Fourth of July. She shares her birthday with some pretty famous folks:
