(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Got junk piling up? Free Landfill Day is happening Sunday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, 2801 N. Madera Road.
This is the perfect chance to clean out your garage, yard, or storage spaces without spending a dime. Dump fees can add up fast, but on Free Landfill Day, Simi Valley residents can bring in up to two loads of approved waste for free. Getting rid of unwanted junk now means more space at home and fewer headaches later. Plus, properly disposing of waste helps keep the community clean.
Just bring a driver’s license or a waste and recycling bill to show proof of residency. Most household junk is accepted, including furniture, mattresses, yard waste, tree trimmings, scrap metal, wood, and big recyclables like cardboard. They won’t take commercial waste, hazardous materials, tires, fluorescent light bulbs, electronics, or liquids. Make sure to cover your load on the way in to prevent littering. For the full list of what’s accepted, check www.wm.com or call (805) 579-7267.
Bonus: Free compost is also available. You can take home up to two bags, but you’ll need to bring a shovel, trash bags, or containers to collect it.
If you’ve been meaning to clear some space, now’s your chance. Take advantage of this free event and get rid of that clutter.
Mark your calendar for March 16 and don’t miss it!
