(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — There’s a special kind of thrill that comes with chasing after something bright and colorful across a wide open field. For kids in Simi Valley, that feeling returns on Saturday, April 19, when the Rancho Simi egg scramble kicks off at 9 a.m. sharp at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park.
The scramble is free and open to children 10 and under. Hundreds of plastic eggs will be scattered across the grass in age-group zones, filled with candy and a few golden tickets that can be traded for prizes. There’s no sign-up required—just show up, bring a basket, and be ready when the horn sounds. The eggs don’t last long.
Photos with Coco E. Bunny will be available from 8 to 9 a.m., and again from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Parents are encouraged to come early for pictures and to get a good spot around the field.
For children with special needs, an accessible area will be set up so everyone can take part.
Hosted by the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, the egg scramble is more than just a dash for candy. It’s a moment of joy, excitement, and community. For kids, it’s a chance to run toward something fun. For parents, it’s a few minutes to pause and watch the kind of happiness that doesn’t need much explanation.
The egg scramble is just one of many free and low-cost activities the park district offers year-round, from sports and fitness to community events and classes for all ages.
