Join the YES Board and Help Teens Build Their Future
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — If you’ve ever wanted to give back to the community in a way that really matters, now’s your chance.
The City of Simi Valley is looking for residents to join its Youth Employment Service (YES) Advisory Board—a group that helps local teens prepare for the real world. Whether it’s guiding students through their first job application or running mock interviews at high schools, board members play a hands-on role in shaping the future workforce.
Each year, the YES Board helps organize two key programs: the Job and Career Fair, where students meet real employers, and the Interview Skills Workshops, where they learn how to shake hands, answer questions, and show up ready. These aren’t just classroom lessons—they’re experiences that make a difference.
The city is accepting applications from a wide range of people: business leaders, teachers, government reps, Neighborhood Council members, students, and any resident who wants to see Simi Valley’s youth succeed. No prior experience on a board is required—just a willingness to show up and help.
Board members commit to a two-year term starting in July, with meetings held once a month from August through May. It’s a manageable time commitment with a direct impact.
The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 21 at 5 p.m.
You can apply online at www.simivalley.org/YESApp.

For the right person, this is more than a volunteer role—it’s a chance to be part of a student’s first step toward a better future.
