Take home a new best friend this weekend
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Overcrowded kennels, wagging tails and hopeful eyes—Ventura County Animal Services is full, and that means opportunity for you. This weekend, adoption fees are completely waived, making it the perfect time to fall in love and make it official.
Yes, pets are a responsibility. They shed, they need walks and sometimes they chew your favorite socks. But they also greet you like a rock star every time you walk through the door. They bring calm to chaos, laughter to the mundane and love that doesn’t ask for anything but your time.
And right now, one of those pets just might be Oso.

This 6-year-old cattle dog is a handsome guy with a stocky build, independent streak and a brain full of commands—sit, shake, down, roll over and even “no.” He’s a big fan of treats (who isn’t?) and would be more than happy to learn a few new tricks in exchange for snacks.
Oso has been trimming down since arriving at the shelter, staying active with daily walks and backyard trots alongside volunteers. He walks well on leash, keeps a steady pace and would make an excellent fitness buddy—or couch companion, if that’s more your speed.
Come meet Oso
Oso is available for adoption at Ventura County Animal Services, 600 Aviation Drive in Camarillo. His ID number is A847605.
No fee, no pressure—just a great dog hoping for a second chance. Could it be with you?
