(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) – If you’re looking for stars, stripes, and a splash of historical flair this Fourth of July, one local hillside celebration has you covered. The Reagan Library will once again open its grounds for a community-wide Independence Day event blending Americana traditions with a view—and this year, it also launches a countdown to a milestone 250 years in the making.
The celebration takes place Friday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Reagan Library, 40 Presidential Drive in Simi Valley. It marks the beginning of “America 250,” a nationwide campaign commemorating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.
Admission to the outdoor festivities is free, and families are encouraged to bring their patriotic spirit. Guests can mingle with Founding Father reenactors, meet Iwo Jima tribute performers, and pose for a large-scale group photo. Musical highlights include the Los Robles Children’s Choir, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Band, and country singer Justin Honsinger.
Younger visitors will find plenty to do, with face painting, crafts, lawn games, and carnival-style picnic competitions. Rounding out the day is Presidential Bingo—with prizes fit for future history buffs.
Museum admission is optional but strongly encouraged for those wanting to explore more. Regular ticket prices apply for entry into the Reagan Library’s signature exhibits, including the Air Force One Pavilion and the new special exhibition, Dead Sea Scrolls: The Exhibition, which runs through Sept. 2. Featuring eight original scrolls and over 200 artifacts from ancient Israel, the exhibit offers a rare glimpse into the religious and cultural history that helped shape Western civilization.
Parking is free, but fills quickly. To learn more or purchase tickets for museum access, visit www.reaganfoundation.org.
