(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — People in Simi Valley are coming together to assist a local family. Bluefin Grill & Sushi is leading an effort to support Desiree, one of their valued employees, and her husband, James Kawa.
James was recently diagnosed with several brain tumors. Doctors successfully removed one tumor. However, he now faces more surgery and radiation to treat the others.
To help, Bluefin’s Hoss and Malai, along with others, are spreading the word about a GoFundMe campaign. The money raised through the fundraiser will be used to pay for medical bills and give the family support while James fights cancer. Desiree will need time off and additional resources to care for James and their daughter during this difficult period.
The GoFundMe page, started by Amy Wells six days ago, is called “Support James Kawa’s Battle with Melanoma.” So far, it has raised more than $18,500 from 132 donors.
The fundraiser says:
“We are raising funds for our crew brother and friend, James Kawa, who is battling melanoma which has traveled to his brain. He will be undergoing both surgery and radiation to remove and shrink the tumors in his brain. The funds that we are raising are for his wife Desiree and his daughter Phoenix to cover expenses and help relieve financial stress so that they can be there to support James.”
