(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Danny’s world turned upside down this summer. The 13-year-old Chihuahua lost the only family he knew when his dad was deported, and on July 27 he arrived at Ventura County Animal Services in Camarillo. From Kennel 357, he’s now hoping for a second chance.
Danny isn’t asking for much. What he really needs is someone who understands the value of giving an older dog a soft bed, steady care, and a place to belong. For anyone with a heart for underdogs, he’s the kind of companion who rewards patience with loyalty.
Like many Chihuahuas, Danny carries himself with confidence that outpaces his size. He’s sweet but independent, and while he doesn’t demand attention, he lights up when treats are nearby. Shelter staff say he’s done well with kids in the past, and though he may be open to living with another calm dog, he can get a little jealous at times. He’ll also need some ongoing dental care, which is common for small breeds.
Chihuahuas are known for their longevity — often living well into their mid-to-late teens — and for their big personalities tucked into tiny frames. At 13, Danny still has time, love, and spirit to share with the right person. Senior dogs like him don’t ask for much, and in return they offer a kind of companionship that feels steady, grateful, and true.
You can meet Danny here. Adoption hours are 1 to 6 p.m., seven days a week. For questions, call (805) 388-4341 or email [email protected].
