(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Mission Burrito on Tapo Street is mixing tacos with a little sleight of hand. On Tuesday, September 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., the restaurant will host its next Taco Tuesday Magic night.
The magician will stroll through the dining room, stopping at tables to perform close-up tricks for guests as they eat. This style of magic, often called strolling or close-up magic, is designed to be interactive, with each table getting its own short show. The magician also performs at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, and will bring a taste of that experience to Simi Valley for the night.
Strolling magic is different from the big shows people usually picture. The tricks happen right in front of you — a card pulled from your hand, a coin vanishing from the table, a thought seemingly read out loud. The idea is to make the magic personal, with each group getting its own short performance.
Mission Burrito has been hosting these Taco Tuesday Magic events as a way to pair dinner with entertainment in a casual, family-friendly setting. Regulars know to expect something unexpected when a magician drops by their table.
Jose Martinez, owner of Mission Burrito, says Taco Tuesday Magic will now happen every week.
The event runs for two hours, giving everyone in the restaurant a chance to see some of the table-to-table magic up close.
Mission Burrito is located at 2161 Tapo Street, Simi Valley.
