(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — If you’re a middle or high school student who wants your ideas taken seriously, this is your chance.
Instead of spending another day behind a desk, you could spend Friday, Oct. 17, in a space buzzing with energy and open conversations. The 21st Annual Voices of Tomorrow Youth Summit is more than a free field trip—it’s a chance to share what matters to you now and to talk about the kind of future you want to help shape.
Hosted by the Simi Valley Youth Council, the summit welcomes eighth through twelfth graders to the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District Activity Center for a day designed to inspire and connect. You hear from a keynote speaker who knows how to get people motivated, take part in workshops that let you try out new skills and join discussions where your opinions aren’t just welcome—they’re the point. Many of those conversations build toward action, with students developing ideas and turning them into a cohesive plan for projects that can make a difference in the community.
Youth Summit Chair Saydee Ro says the day is all about connection. “The Youth Summit is a fantastic opportunity to make new connections, brainstorm solutions to challenges and meet with leaders who can help bring those solutions to life,” she said.
That includes leaders you’ve probably seen around town: City Council members, school board trustees and park district officials. They are there to listen, but the conversation is meant to go both ways. You and your peers bring the fresh perspectives, they bring the experience and together you might spark ideas that outlast the day.
The summit is recognized as an excused absence by the Simi Valley Unified School District and it also provides six hours of community service credit. Free lunch is provided to participants, and students are encouraged to notify their teachers in advance if they plan to attend. Registration is free but limited to 132 students, and forms must be submitted by Oct. 3 at bit.ly/ycyouthsummit25.
For questions about service hours, students can contact [email protected].
So why go? Because this is your city, your schools and your community—and decisions being made today will shape the place where you live tomorrow. The Youth Council created this summit so your generation doesn’t just inherit the future, you help build it.
