Simi Valley to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage with Free Festival
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — The sound of Mariachi, the smell of fresh tortillas, and the colors of handmade art will fill old-downtown Simi Valley later this month. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Hispanic Heritage Festival returns to the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, inviting the community to come together for a free day of music, food, art, and history. The celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to all.
A Festival with Meaning
This year’s Festival carries extra weight. It takes place during the 30th anniversary of the Cultural Arts Center, a building that has hosted concerts, plays, and community gatherings for three decades. Organizers say the event is more than entertainment—it’s a chance to honor the traditions that helped shape Simi Valley’s story.
Music, Food, and Art
The plaza outside the Center will turn into a performance space, with Mariachi music and live dance filling the air. A community DJ will keep the energy going between sets. Food vendors will be on hand, offering dishes that reflect Latin American flavors.
Inside the Cultural Arts Center, the gallery will showcase work by Latino and Indigenous artists, curated by Andrea Ramirez and Liliaflor. A separate space will screen short films curated by Jennifer Greco, Humberto Castaneda, and Alex Castaneda. Each screening will be followed by conversations with the filmmakers.
History and Hands-On Activities
Alongside the art and music, visitors can explore an exhibit organized with the Simi Valley Historical Society, highlighting the role of Latino and Indigenous communities in the city’s past. Families will also find plenty to do: Art Trek of Newbury Park will lead hands-on projects including a collaborative mural, clay art, and free face painting.
A Community Gathering
The Cultural Arts Center Foundation says the Festival is meant to feel like a true community gathering.
“Our Hispanic Heritage Festival will offer Simi Valley residents and surrounding communities an opportunity to come together to enjoy a free, family-friendly event that appreciates and showcases a vibrant blend of Latino and Indigenous cultures,” the Foundation said.
With more than 65 artisan vendors, live performances, food, film, and history, the Festival offers something for everyone while honoring cultures deeply connected to Ventura County.
