Al Brown Appointed Again to Represent Simi Valley Seniors
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — At the June 2025 Simi Valley City Council meeting, councilmembers unanimously voted to reappoint Al Brown as the city’s representative to the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging (VCAAA) Advisory Council.
Brown, a longtime Simi Valley resident and retired community volunteer, is no stranger to service. As he stood before the council to accept the appointment, the room shared light laughter. “You can add this one to your collection,” one councilmember joked. “He already has one on each side.”
Deputy Community Services Director Anna Medina introduced the item. She explained that the advisory council “represents the concerns of senior citizens countywide” and provides leadership and advocacy for Ventura County residents aged 60 and over.
Each city in the county is represented by two members on the 20-member council. Brown will continue representing Simi Valley’s senior population, a role he has held in past years as well.
Councilmembers moved quickly to support his nomination. “I’ll go ahead and move the appointment of Al Brown to the position,” one member said. Another seconded, and the vote passed unanimously.
Brown was also appointed during the same council meeting to serve as an alternate member of the Youth Employment Service Advisory Board—showing his ongoing commitment to intergenerational community service.
The brief exchange at the meeting underscored a simple truth: Simi Valley relies on people like Al Brown—volunteers who keep showing up.
