(CLAIR | Ventura County, CA) — Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko’s office announced Thursday that two of the five juveniles charged in connection with the August 1, 2025 assault outside a Simi Valley movie theater have admitted to felony assault and hate-crime allegations.

According to the press release (No. 25-133), issued by Maureen Byrne, Supervising Deputy District Attorney, one of the two juveniles also admitted to making a criminal threat during a separate incident at the same location on May 30, 2025.
The cases involve five minors total. Prosecutors said that two of those five were also charged for their roles in the May 30 incident. The three remaining juveniles who have not entered admissions have continued their arraignments to mid-November.
Sentencing for the two juveniles who admitted the charges is scheduled for November 13, 2025, and November 19, 2025.
The charges listed in the DA’s release include:
- PC 245(a)(4): Assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury
- PC 422(a): Criminal threats
- PC 422.75(a): Hate-crime special allegation
The District Attorney’s Office has not released additional details because the defendants are minors.
