(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Rosie isn’t a kitten anymore, but that’s exactly what makes her special. At 14 years old, she’s calm, gentle, and just wants a soft place to land.
This week, we’re featuring two pets in need of homes—Rosie the cat and Fern the dog. Both are waiting patiently for someone to give them a second chance.
Rosie is a white-and-black Domestic Shorthair who came into Ventura County Animal Services on October 24, 2024, after being found in an unincorporated area. She’s about 15 pounds, spayed, and has been staying in a foster home instead of a shelter kennel. That gives her a peaceful place to wait—but she’s ready for a forever home.
People choose cats for good reasons. They’re independent but affectionate, low-maintenance, and easy to live with. Rosie doesn’t need much—just a soft spot to nap and someone nearby. Studies even show cats can help reduce stress and boost emotional health.
Older cats like Rosie often wait longer to be adopted, but they’re some of the easiest and most loyal companions. By adopting her, you also help another cat get a break from the shelter by opening up her foster spot.
If Rosie sounds like the right fit for your home, contact her foster parent at [email protected].
She’s not asking for much—just a quiet place, a warm spot to rest, and someone to share her final, gentle years with.
Somewhere out there is the person she’s been waiting for. Maybe it’s you.
