(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library will host a major public celebration on July 4, 2025, participating in the national kickoff of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. This event marks the beginning of a year-long commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 — a milestone that will culminate on the nation’s actual 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.
The anniversary, known as “America 250” or “A250,” will be observed across the country, and this Simi Valley event will be among the first large-scale public celebrations to launch the commemorative year. Visitors to the Reagan Library will take part in a day of music, history, games, and community activities.
The celebration begins at 10 a.m. at the Reagan Library, located at 40 Presidential Drive in Simi Valley. All outdoor activities are free to the public. Regular admission is required only for access to the museum, the Air Force One Pavilion, and the featured Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit.
While the 250th birthday of the United States officially falls on July 4, 2026, the Reagan Library’s event on July 4, 2025, serves as the official start of the commemorative period. Organizers emphasize that this is the kickoff to an entire year of reflection, learning, and celebration leading up to the historic anniversary.
The year from July 2025 to July 2026 offers Americans an opportunity to engage with the history, values, and future of the nation. Simi Valley is taking a leading role by hosting this major opening event.
Visitors will encounter historical reenactors portraying the Founding Fathers, bringing the story of 1776 to life. These interpreters will walk the grounds, pose for photos, and speak with families about the events that shaped American independence.
Performances will include the Los Robles Children’s Choir, composed of young voices from Ventura County, as well as live music from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Band. Traditional country artist Justin Honsinger will also perform, adding a musical tribute to the day.
Another moving moment will feature Iwo Jima reenactors, providing a living tribute to the Marines of World War II and linking past struggles for freedom across centuries.
Activities for children will include face painting, craft tables, lawn games, and carnival-style picnic fun. Guests can also play Presidential Bingo for a chance to win prizes. A large group photo with all attendees will capture the community’s shared role in launching this national celebration.
