Simi Valley Education Foundation, Walt Fuller Foundation and Y’s Men Club honor local scholars with awards that celebrate community, perseverance and service
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Dreams don’t come with a price tag—but the journey to achieve them often does. For several Simi Valley students, that journey just got a little easier thanks to local organizations committed to investing in their futures.

The Simi Valley Education Foundation (SVEF), a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing public education, has awarded $13,000 in scholarships to deserving students from Royal High School, Santa Susana High School and Simi Valley High School. These scholarships aim to support students in their pursuit of college, technical or vocational education.
A significant portion of this funding was made possible by a generous $10,000 donation from the Walt Fuller Foundation. Walter “Walt” Fuller, a respected air traffic control supervisor at Bob Hope Airport and a devoted family man, tragically lost his life in the 2008 Metrolink train crash. His commitment to community and education lives on through the foundation established in his name. Jenny Fuller, Walt’s wife, continues to honor his legacy as a dedicated SVEF board member, according to the Simi Valley Education Foundation website.
In addition to the general scholarships, SVEF has awarded three two-year endowment scholarships ($1,000 per year) to students enrolling in local community colleges. These scholarships are designed to provide opportunities for students who demonstrate a strong desire to succeed but face financial challenges.
