(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Nothing says summer like a cold scoop of ice cream and a familiar tune drifting through the air. At the Simi Valley Senior Center on Saturday, July 12, the Council On Aging invites everyone to cool off, kick back and savor the sweetness of the season at the Stars and Stripes Ice Cream Social.
Held from 2 to 4 p.m., with doors opening at 1:30, the free event promises an afternoon full of flavor and fellowship. Families, friends and neighbors of all ages are welcome to gather at 3900 Avenida Simi for a celebration that blends tradition with timeless pleasures.
The air will be filled with music and laughter as guests choose their favorite ice cream flavors and pile on the toppings. A dedicated photo spot will be on hand to capture the joy of the day, from silly smiles to spontaneous dance moves. Whether you’re meeting up with longtime friends or making brand-new ones, this mid-July gathering offers a perfect pause from the heat and hustle of everyday life.
Bill Oliver, chair of the Council On Aging, shared his enthusiasm for the event, calling it one of his summer favorites. “It brings the local community together to socialize with family and friends, listen to musical entertainment and enjoy lots of ice cream with all your favorite toppings,” he said.
Events like the ice cream social highlight just one way the Senior Center serves as a vibrant hub for the Simi Valley community. The center enhances the lives of residents 50 and older with lifelong learning programs, fitness and social activities, health services, meal programs and art and computer classes. From book clubs and billiards to support groups and excursions, the center offers opportunities to stay healthy by engaging both body and mind. Whether you’re still working or retired, it’s a place to explore new interests, volunteer and connect with the community.
The invitation to the Stars and Stripes Ice Cream Social is open to all, especially seniors and their families. For more details, call the Senior Center at (805) 583-6363.
