Unidentified Flying Object Over Simi Valley Has Residents Talking
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Something strange was spotted in the skies above Simi Valley late Friday afternoon. It didn’t look like a plane. It wasn’t moving like one either. And depending on who you ask, it might not have been anything we’re used to seeing at all.
According to Sunkist tract area resident David Sanchez, the object first appeared around 4:00 p.m. He said it moved slowly east, then disappeared, only to reappear a few minutes later to the west. “It seemed to be a minimum 25 to 30 miles away,” he wrote. “At one point I saw two or three lights flash, then they disappeared. I’ve seen drones before, but this was no drone.”
Sanchez posted about the sighting online, and dozens of people from across the city chimed in. Some said they saw the same thing—others didn’t see anything but still had opinions. The guesses came fast: a drone, a mylar balloon, a satellite, a secret military craft, or something not from here at all.
One person said it hovered too long to be a balloon. Another was convinced it wasn’t high enough to be a satellite. A few joked that if it was a UFO, “no one’s going to tell us anyway.” At least one person said it creeped them out.
No one could agree on what the object was. But many people agreed on one thing—it wasn’t a commercial plane, and it wasn’t following any normal flight path.
There’s been no official statement from local authorities. No word from the FAA or nearby airports. Just a sky, an object, and a lot of questions.
Sanchez, for his part, says he’s always looking up. “People would be surprised at what they see if they just looked up at our sky.”
For now, the mystery remains. Whether it was a drone, a reflection, or something more unusual, the skies over Simi Valley definitely got people’s attention.
