(CLAIR/On Site Spotlight: Steve Hise, Tricia Garcia) – When it comes to Mexican food, there are few things more refreshing than a cold margarita. And when it comes to margaritas, no place does it better than Mission Burrito in Simi Valley. Made with a unique blend of fresh ingredients and their own house tequila, Mission Burrito’s secret recipe margaritas will rock your tastebuds like nothing else.
Mission Burrito has been around since 1939, making it the oldest Mexican restaurant in Simi Valley.
Owner and operator, Jose Martinez, worked for the original Mission Burrito owners.
According to Martinez, the restaurant still serves from the same delicious menu.
“The food we made back then was simple and there wasn’t a lot of variety. But, it was good quality food and it was filling. People came from all over to eat at our restaurant because they knew they would always get a good meal,” Martinez said.
“We didn’t have a lot of customers back then, but the ones we did have were loyal. We treated our customers with kindness and respect. They knew they could count on us and they would come back again and again.”
“I’m proud to say, that we were the first Mexican restaurant in the Valley and that we’re still around after so many years,” Martinez said.
The next time you’re in the mood for Mexican food, you don’t want to miss a visit to Mission Burrito. The award winning margarita alongside their freshly prepared tacos is an experience too good to pass up. You’ll come back again and again.
