(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Two dogs found in Simi Valley are now at Ventura County Animal Services, each hoping for a second chance with people who will make them part of the family.
Eclipse, a 2-year-old spayed female Siberian Husky, was found in Simi Valley and brought to the Camarillo Animal Shelter on Aug. 23. At 53 pounds, she has the striking blue eyes and thick coat her breed is known for, along with an eager energy that makes her curious about everyone who passes by. Shelter staff say Eclipse is healthy, alert and ready to meet someone who can give her the care and companionship a young Husky thrives on. See Eclipse’s profile here.
Luna, a 9-year-old Chihuahua–Norfolk Terrier mix, was also found in Simi Valley the next day. At just 19 pounds, she’s small in size but full of personality. She will officially be available for adoption Sept. 1. If she or someone you know is missing, Luna is at the Camarillo Animal Shelter and waiting to be reunited with her family. If no one comes forward, she will then be looking for people who see in her what volunteers already do: a sweet dog eager for affection. See Luna’s profile here.
The spotlight on Eclipse and Luna comes just after a record day for the shelter. On Aug. 23, during the Clear The Shelters adoption event, 68 animals went home with new families — 28 dogs, 35 cats and kittens, three rabbits and two birds. Every adoption opens space for the next animal that needs help, and staff say it’s this cycle of community support that keeps the shelter running.
For Eclipse and Luna, the future depends on people. It takes someone willing to step forward, meet them in person, and choose to bring them into their lives. That act not only changes a dog’s life, but often brings just as much joy to the humans on the other side of the leash.
