Miss the meeting, miss the money.
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Nonprofits and local agencies hoping to tap into available federal grant funding will need to act quickly and show up.
Organizations must register by noon Mon., Jan. 19, to attend the City of Simi Valley’s mandatory Community Development Block Grant workshop for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
The workshop will take place Thurs., Jan. 22, at 9 a.m. in the Community Room at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
The funding, provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, supports projects that directly benefit low- and moderate-income residents. In practical terms, the money is limited to improvements to buildings, facilities and infrastructure used by the community.
City staff will walk applicants through the grant process, explain eligibility requirements, and outline what types of projects qualify this year.
For this funding cycle, only capital improvement projects will be considered. New applications for public service programs will not be accepted, the city said in a statement.
Attendance at the workshop is required to apply for funding. Organizations that do not attend will be ineligible to receive CDBG funds for the upcoming program year.
To register, send an email to City Senior Management Analyst Lindsey Scaringe at [email protected]. Emails should include the number of attendees, the organization’s name and a contact phone number and email.
More information is available at simivalley.org/CDBG or by calling the City of Simi Valley at (805) 583-6749.
