Say Goodbye to Target Wait Times. Hello Holiday Inn!
(CLAIR) – In an exciting development for electric vehicle owners, Tesla is set to bring a new Supercharger station to the heart of Simi Valley, promising relief to local Tesla drivers facing crowded conditions at existing charging locations. The new spot for juice will be located at the Holiday Inn on 2550 Erringer Rd. This hub is equipped with the latest V3 Superchargers, capable of delivering up to 250 kW per car. This means a Model 3 Long Range can gain about 75 miles of charge in just 5 minutes—a charging speed that equates to 1,000 miles per hour.
Tesla’s Supercharger network, featuring over 12,000 stations across North America, Europe, and Asia, is pivotal to the company’s strategy of eliminating range anxiety for its users. The addition of the new station in Simi Valley is part of Tesla’s ongoing efforts to expand its charging infrastructure to meet growing demand.
The existing Supercharger site at the Target on 51 Tierra Rejada Road has been a popular spot but struggles to cope during peak times, with drivers often waiting for a free stall. The new location at the Holiday Inn not only aims to alleviate these bottlenecks but also positions the chargers more centrally in town, enhancing convenience for local drivers and those coming from the San Fernando Valley.
The choice of the Holiday Inn, near the freeway, is strategic, serving as a lure for drivers traveling along the 118 and 210 freeway corridor, where charging options are sparse. However, the decision has sparked questions about why the Town Center mall was not selected, given that many Supercharger sites are located in shopping centers, which encourage shopping and dining as cars charge.
This oversight has been seen by some as a missed opportunity for boosting local commerce and has led to criticism of Town Center management for not being more proactive in attracting Tesla’s investment.
The new Superchargers are a welcome addition to Simi Valley’s infrastructure, promising faster and more accessible charging options as Tesla continues to pave the way in electric vehicle technology.
