(CLAIR) – On a hot Monday afternoon in Simi Valley, a mother’s worst nightmare came true when her car auto-locked with her young daughter inside.
Fearing the child was quickly becoming overheated, the mother was frantic. Thankfully, a nearby Trader Joe’s employee called the police, who rushed to the scene along with Ventura County firefighters.
While the mother was reported to be frantic, the girl inside the car didn’t appear to be in distress. In fact, police say they saw her laughing and cheerleading the effort to rescue her. It quickly became an informal race between officers and firefighters to see who could get the door open first. Thankfully, the child was rescued before any harm could come to her.
It’s unclear how long she was in the car, but police say she didn’t appear to be in any danger. They eventually got her out of the car and reunited her with her mother. It’s safe to say that this was a scare that no one involved will soon forget.
